Vaccinations for Expat Children in Denmark

Many families moving to Denmark find that the childhood vaccination programme differs from their home country. In many countries, children are routinely vaccinated against Rotavirus, Chickenpox (Varicella), and Hepatitis B.

These vaccines are not included in the Danish childhood vaccination programme, but we offer them at our clinic as optional vaccinations for children.

Chickenpox (Varicella)

Chickenpox is a common childhood infection that causes an itchy rash with fluid-filled blisters and fever. Although most children recover without complications, the infection can sometimes lead to skin infections or other complications.

In many countries, vaccination against chickenpox is part of the routine childhood vaccination programme.

Rotavirus

Rotavirus is a highly contagious virus that causes vomiting, diarrhoea and fever in infants and young children. The infection can lead to dehydration and may require medical treatment.

Many countries vaccinate infants against rotavirus to help protect them during their first months of life.

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is a viral infection that affects the liver and spreads through contact with infected blood or body fluids. In some cases, the infection can become chronic and lead to long-term liver disease.

In many countries, the Hepatitis B vaccine is included in routine childhood immunisation programmes.
